We are incredibly proud to share our achievement in Michael Faraday School being recognised for the way in which we use technology to help with the teaching of the curriculum. The Association for Learning Technology has awarded the Tech Team with the Runners Up prize in the prestigious Technologist of the Year award for 2013. This is in recognition for the online speech and language project that we partnered with our technology friends at audioboo.
The Talk Aloud project was successfully completed in Year 3 and Year 6 during the autumn term of 2012. The aim was to allow pupils to self-improve their speech and language skills, using audioboo as an online platform for self-assessment. We were incredibly impressed with the positive results that the project was able to deliver.
The Association for Learning Technology recognised the achievements that this project made not only in helping to improve the development of each pupil, but also in introducing new technology platforms into the school as continue to strive to become a ‘next generation’ learning centre. The ethos behind the Tech Team is for technology to be embedded within all aspects of the school curriculum, and not simply taught as a stand-alone subject.
Many thanks to Gabrielle who helped to make the Talk Aloud project such a success. Lorna, Scott, Leanne and all the support staff also put in a huge amount of effort. Jason was able to help with the technology and ideas for this project – a tremendous team success.
As well as the honour of the award, the school has also received a cheque for £500 from the Association for Learning Technology. This will be used to help further the development of technology as a learning tool throughout the school.
