The Michael Faraday Reception has now expanded to contain three different classes. We have reduced the size of each teaching group and added in extra teaching and support. The idea behind this is to be able to offer each child a learning programme that will help them achieve as high as possible.
This is a new way of working for both children and staff – the first week has seen a successful transition period for our new system. Many of the new Reception starters are staggering their full introduction to Michael Faraday. Staff have carried out a number of home visits to help make this a smooth introduction.
Soon we will start to read our first book for the new term. Biscuit Bear is a story that is fun to read, as well as helping out the teaching staff to be able to target the needs that each child will need throughout the term. We have already started our bear themed work by making some bright bear collages.
We are also encouraging the Reception pupils to be as independent as possible. We have put in place a system of self-registration to work alongside our more formal school register. Each morning and afternoon, each child is asked to sign in and write their own name on our registration wall.
A wonderful start from all three Reception classes!
