Yr 4 Globe Rehearsals

Year 4

There is much excitement around Year 4 as we start our preparations ahead of The Globe’s Concert for Winter on 12 December. We are proud at having been selected to represent Michael Faraday School at such a prestigious event.

Year 4

Regeneration and Re-growth are the main themes for the concert this year. Year 4 are rehearsing a unique interpretation of this idea, singing contemporary versions of We’ll Meet Again and the White Cliffs of Dover. We will be playing our ukuleles on the famous Globe stage to help us with our music.

Year 4

The pupils have been learning the chord changes and the lyrics, and more importantly, how to match them both together. We’re sure that it will be all right on the night, but we were very impressed during a recent rehearsal when one class member correctly identified that her ukulele was badly out of tune!

Year 4

All parents and carers will of course be invited to attend Shakespeare’s Globe on 12 December. We will be sending out invitations nearer to the date.

Elsewhere in Year 4 and the pupils have completed their history topic looking at the Celts and are now starting to research all about the Romans. The two themes are closely linked together. We have been looking at the relationship between the Celts and the Romans and how the two cultures influenced one another. Year 4 have been researching Roman housing, Gods and the legacy of the Roman numeral system.

The pupils have also been investigating the importance of trade and how this was the reason the Romans came to Britain. We have looked at the character of Boadicea and how the Romans were able to defeat her, plus why she is still celebrated as a powerful character, despite defeat.
