Year 4 were thrilled to receive a visit recently from Nayantara Parpia, a professional Classical Indian dancer. Our special guest was able to explain more about the culture of her country and how this influences the way in which dances.
The pupils learnt how hand and feet signals are important when it comes to Classical Indian dancing. We were able to express ourselves with some of these details with Nayantara leading a wonderful Indian dance workshop.
We were able to understand how the musical styles and instruments used influence the range of dance moves. We found out that rhythmic patterns are very important for any Classical Indian dancer.
We would like to thank Nayantara for taking the time to come and share her work with the Year 4 pupils.
