The Year 6 students at Michael Faraday are busy preparing for their transition to become secondary school pupils. We recently invited into our school our friends from the Little Fish Theatre Company to help explore some of the transition ideas during a drama production.
The actors put on a short play involving the problems that a couple of teenagers face as they attempt to move on from a bad situation. Alcohol and bullying are issues that they then have to face.
This was a very practical drama session. Year 6 were asked as to how they might resolve a particular situation to receive a positive outcome.
We are continuing with our own acting work in Year 6 as preparations for the end of year play move ever closer. Plenty of rehearsals are taking place each day. Scripts have now been abandoned with all of the actors having now learnt their lines.
Any other time is being spent completing the Year 6 portfolios. The pupils have been selecting the pieces of work that they are most proud of over the past school year. The portfolios will travel with us to our secondary schools. The idea is that our new teachers and friends will be able to see the outstanding work that we are capable of achieving.
