The Year 6 Leaver’s Assembly is always one of the most emotional occasions in the Michael Faraday School calendar. Saying farewell to the 2014 school leavers proved to be no exception.
We like to approach this momentous occasion with a positive outlook. Although we are incredibly sad to be saying goodbye to pupils who have been with us since their Nursery days, there are some fantastic opportnities that lay ahead at secondary schools.
Head Teacher Karen introduced the Leaver’s Assembly by welcoming the many parents that had come along to share in the success of the pupils.
Year 6 teachers Leanne and Gabrielle then gave individual speeches for each leaver. Memories of their time at Michael Faraday were shared. We had some happy stories, some inspirational achievements and some very funny moments.
Karen awarded each leaver with a personalisied leaving certificate, as well as a special gift. These were just a small token as we say goodybye. We hope that the memories of your time at Michael Faraday will remain just as important.
Karen then concluded the assembly with an uplifting speech reflecting on all of the achievements:
“The main message that we hope you can take away from our school is that you should take your talents to the next stage. You have all achieved highly, but are now ready for your next level of learning.
Some really hard work has been carried out by this year group. We have had some of the best SATS results that this school has ever had.
I am proud of the amazing team that have helped you all to achieve your potential. This has been a fantastic journey. We hope that you remain committed to your learning.”
With the formaities concluded, it was now time for the Leaver’s Tea. This is where the pupils get to serve up a high quality tea to all the parents and carers. Fantastic hep was provided by the team of Dilek, Fatima and Ragini.
And so farwell Year 6. Many thanks for all of the memories that you leave us with. Please don’t forget us – we certainly won’t forget you!
