The Year 6 pupils at Michael Faraday School are putting the final touches to the end of year school play. Go For Goal is an original Michael Faraday production that will be performed at 2pm and 6pm on 21 July.
As the name suggests, there is a football theme to the Year 6 play for this year. The students were inspired by the recent World Cup held in Brazil to carry out some research about the history of the competition.
We found that there are many unique stories that the World Cup has managed to deliver over the years. Our task as performers was to piece all off these together and form an overall story.
We don’t want to give too much away ahead of the performance, but the Go For Goal title said it all: we are all cabable of achieving our dreams, whatever they might be.
You can listen to a few teaser thoughts in the short recording below.
Many weeks of preparation has gone into this production. The play was written with the aim of including a signifficant part for all pupils in both Year 6 classes. Different actors will rotate the main parts for both performances.
Plus there is plenty of music and songs!
The props and costumes have been taken care of superbly by the dedicated support staff in Year 6. Many thanks to Dilek, Fatima and Ragini for all of the behind the scenes work.
Leanne and Gabrielle are the Directors of Go For Goal. The play wouldn’t have been possible without the professional musical contribution from Liz.
We would also like to thank local artist Alicia Roy for managing the production of the stage scenery. Alicia has very kindly volunteered her time to produce some stunning scenery that fits the football theme.
All parents, carers and other family members of the Year 6 pupils are of course warly invited to attend either the 2pm or 6pm production on 21 July. Tickets allocation details should already have found their way home.
