The Nursery teaching staff are looking forward to welcoming the new starters to Michael Faraday School. This year we will have four Nursery classes. There will be two turquoise classes for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, and then two tangerine classes for Wednesday afternoons and all day Thursday and Friday.
Class teachers Catherine and Deanna have been busy visiting the new Nursery children in their home environments. This is an important process to help the children feel comfortable with their new teachers, as well as being a good opportunity for parents and carers to ask any questions.
We will be spending the first few weeks in the Nursery getting to know our new school friends and learning about the structure of the school day. Some of the basic Michael Faraday school rules will be learnt. These involve sharing our resources and treating our friends with respect.
The Nursery children will be reading We’re Going on a Bear Hunt to help with the early stages of learning. We are lucky to have so many different nationalities represented in the new Nursery starters. We will be using the original text from the Michael Rosen book, and then helping to translate this into Cantonese, Hungarian, Spanish, Twi, Yoruba and Krio.
Early Years Co-coordinator Catherine explains a little more about the settling in process in the short recording below.
Welcome to all of our new Nursery starters at Michael Faraday School!
