The Year 6 students at Michael Faraday School have started the new school year by working out a strategy as to how we can improve our literacy learning for the months ahead. All pupils have attempted a comprehension test. This covered three varied topics: Inventions, The Faces of the Czar and A Life Underwater. We read through the text, and then answered the questions.
We spoke in class about some of the strategies that we can use to improve our knowledge. The students should all now feel confident about writing complete sentences, and adding in adjectives and appropriate grammar to help add a little energy to our writing skills.
We shared our answers together in class. All pupils contributed some thoughts as to what work now needs to be done to improve our writing skills further.
This is also an incredibly useful exercise at the start of the year for the teaching staff. It enables us to understand what support we can offer to help each pupil bring out their full potential.
Elsewhere in Year 6 and the students had some fun baking some homemade pizzas. We prepared the food for the important Secondary School Transfer meeting that all parents and carers were invited to.
