Year 5 represented Michael Faraday School exceptionally well at the recent Southwark Splash Winter Concert. This took place on the prestigious stage of the Royal Festival Hall at the South Bank Centre. Both Year 5 classes joined up with other pupils from around the borough to celebrate winter and to showcase the many musical talents.
We have been working on this project with our friends from Southwark Splash throughout the second half of the autumn term. Weekly rehearsals have taken place with some highly technical musical skills being taught.
Five songs were performed in total at the Royal Festival Hall. There was a fantastic reaction from the full house in the audience. It was wonderful to see so many parents and carers of Michael Faraday pupils coming along to support the school.
Year 5 are now finishing off their work by writing some thank you letters to Southwark Splash. We have asked the pupils to consider the skills that they have learnt, and how the whole performance has been able to give them extra self-confidence. The letters are also a useful way of writing a mini-review of our experience at the South Bank Centre.
You can listen to a couple of pupils sharing their thoughts in the recording below.
