The Nursery children have settled well into the first few days of the new spring term at Michael Faraday School. We have introduced the children to the idea of making an estimation as part of our maths learning. We have seen how an estimation means making a sensible guess ahead of counting the actual amount.
A number of different resources in the Nursery have been used for this activity. The children have been placing a random number of unifix cubes into a jar. We then make a sensible estimate as to how many might be inside. The fun part of this activity is then to carefully count the exact number to see who had the best estimate.
