Both Year 6 classes has an incredibly informative time spent at the Southwark Junior Citizenship Scheme. This is an event that took place Kingswood House near Crystal Palace. The aim is very much about transition and safety. As the Year 6 students prepare for secondary school, the Citizenship Scheme is able to offer up advice to help us feel safe in our community.
Many different agencies were represented on the day. These included Transport for London, the Met Police, the Fire Brigade, cycling safety organisations, the Red Cross and Battersea Dogs Home.
Each organisation staged a series of workshops. Themes included how to stay safe when using transport, online safety and basic first aid. You can listen to some of the Year 6 students explaining a little more about their day out in the recording below.
