Year 2 Religious Education Research

Year 2 are continuing to learn about Islam as part of our RE learning for the spring term. The pupils have already explored some of the teachings in the Koran. We have also been looking at the importance of regular prayer for Muslim worshippers and how a prayer mat is used.

Our RE work is now looking at the festival of Ramadan. We have held a class discussion exploring ideas about why Muslims decide to fast during this period. We have thought about how it might feel to fast during Ramadan, and then how this can help a Muslim worshipper with their faith.

Each pupil has drawn a plate of food that they might like to eat once the fasting of Ramadan is over. We have asked the children to think about the types of food that Muslims are allowed to eat.

The next stage of our learning in Year 2 will be to look at the Muslim Prophets.
