Year 6 have been learning about balanced arguments. We have defined this as a form of reasoned debating that helps us to resolve a particular issue. This work started with the pupils pairing up with a talking partner. A topical issue was chosen, and then each partner had to come up with at least two powerful sentences to justify a point of view.
This work was then developed into a piece of writing. We asked Year 6 to think about the issue of making school uniform compulsory for secondary school children. The students have written a series of balanced arguments to explain their thoughts.
