The Reception children have recently been introduced to different maps as part of our geography learning. The two main themes that the children have been thinking about are distance and direction.
Some of this learning has involved using the school computers. The children have had great fun researching the topic using Google Earth. We have been able to zoom in on Michael Faraday School and our local community.
All of the children have also started work on creating a very localised map of the Reception classroom. Careful attention has been paid to look around our learning space and observe some of the key features. The teaching staff have helped the children to use rulers so that our maps look realistic.
