Both Year 6 classes at Michael Faraday School recently enjoyed a fantastic visit from our friends at the London Bubble Theatre Company. This is a group of professional actors who are able to stage plays that contain a serious message.
The Year 6 students were treated to a play all about transition. This was the perfect timing for the Year 6 pupils as they are about to make the major move to become secondary school students in September.
This was an action-packed play that covered so many relevant issues. The main theme was one of choice. The actors were keen to put over the message that we always have a choice that we can make.
Some of the issues explored included bullying, travelling safe on public transport, stranger danger, alcohol abuse, gangs, tobacco, law and order, self-protection, college and employment.
After the amazing performance had finished, the Year 6 pupils then took part in a workshop with the professional actors. We discussed some of the issues in the play and how we might react if we were faced in a similar situation. Plenty of role-play was used to help the pupils understand the issues.
