There was one final task for the departing Year 6 students to complete before we say goodbye to them at the end of the summer term: the 2015 Leaver’s Assembly.
Head Teacher Karen opened the assembly by welcoming the many family and friends of the Year 6 students who were able to help us celebrate this very special moment.
“This is the last very special event in the school calendar as your time spent as Michael Faraday School pupils. We hope that you enjoy your special afternoon, and treasure this as one of your Michael Faraday memories.”
Year 6 teachers Leanne and Badgie then took turns in explaining a little more detail about the students that we will be saying goodbye to. One by one, each class member was called to the front of the assembly to hear some unique words being spoken about them.
Leanne and Badgie drew upon academic achievements, sporting success, artistic creativity and some general all round comedy moments that the pupils have provided the staff with over the past school year.
Some incredibly proud achievements were told. The assembly heard about the fantastic progress that many of the pupils have made in maths and literacy. A few tears were shed, both from the floor and the front of the stage.
This was a very happy occasion though. All of the emotion was a sign as to the success that both Year 6 classes have managed to make of their final year at Michael Faraday School.
Each pupil was then presented with a special present from Head Teach Karen, as well as a personal certificate to formally recognise their achievements at Michael Faraday School.
“We are really, really sad to see you go. This has been a fantastic year for you all, both academically and socially. We hope that you continue with your passion for learning as you start secondary schools in September.”
All of the teaching staff in Year 6 were also thanked. As well as Leanne and Badgie, the pupils have received constant support throughout the year from Dilek, Ragini and Bridget.
We would like to thank the friends and family who came along to share in this very special moment. Leanne and Badgie put a lot of preparation into the assembly. Some very passionate and thoughtful words were put across.
Although it is very sad to being saying farewell to our friends, all pupils are now ready for their next stage of learning. We wish you well in your future adventures. Please do come back and visit us!
