The Michael Faraday School Ukulele Orchestra recently performed an end of year concert in front of family and friends. The audience was treated to a selection of the songs that the young ukulele players have been learning throughout the school year under the expert guidance of Lorraine, our professional ukulele teacher.
Pupils from Year 4, 5 and 6 have been meeting after school every week to work on improving their skills with Lorraine. The tuition has looked at building up patterns of chords and how we can change the tempo in the music. The ukulele is the ideal instrument for this. It is very accessible for the pupils and is a great introduction to the string family.
We are very proud of the achievements of the Michael Faraday Ukulele Orchestra throughout the school year. As well as the summer show, the pupils have also been invited this year to perform on stage at Shakespeare’s Globe.
You can watch a special performance from the young players in the video above.
