Year 1 have written some thoughtful acrostic snow poems as part of our winter themed topic. The main focus for this learning was to use as many adjectives as possible. We have been finding out in class how describing words can help to make our poems sound exciting.
This work started off with an outline of a large snowflake. The children were asked to write four adjectives associated with winter on the four lines in the middle. This work was then shared to help create a Year 1 memory map containing all of our adjectives.
Each class member then used the memory map to compose their own unique piece of snow poetry. Some of these may be read out during the Key Stage 1 Winter Concert towards the end of term. We are happy to share a selection of these in the video above.
