The Reception children have been busy working on their contribution as part of World Book Day at Michael Faraday School. The children were presented with a picture from the book The Mysteries of Harris Burdick. The only other information that we had was the title of the image: A Strange Day in July.
A creative working space has been set up in the Reception class to help the children work on this project. This is a special quiet area with some atmospheric lighting to help stimulate some thought.
Each class member has written their own thoughts about the picture, and what the story could possibly mean. The children have also drawn their own images to help explain a little more about their ideas.
Other literacy work in Reception has continued to be inspired by the brilliant What the Ladybird Heard book. We have now advanced this work to take on an artistic element. A large class display has been created. The children have created large scale models of some of the other animals in the story.
