The Michael Faraday Journalism Club continues to develop the reporting skills of the Year 5 and Year 6 students that attend. Each week Sarah-Jane leads the session.
The pupils are working towards producing an end of year magazine, capturing the many events that have taken place at Michael Faraday School since September.
A recent after school session focussed on some of the skills we need when interviewing, as well as how to structure a news report. The students were introduced to the idea of the 5 W’s: Who, what, where, why and when.
Dummy interviews were set up. The young journalists were set the task of trying to gain an exclusive quote out of their subject matter.
This soon became a very real life situation when Head Teacher Karen introduced some Russian visitors to the journalism students. Our guests were visiting architects who wanted to find out more about our fantastic building.
The Journalism Club students used this opportunity to interview the Russian guests, and to find out a little more about why they were visiting our school.
