Both Year 5 classes at Michael Faraday School are in full rehearsal mode for the prestigious Southwark Splash concert. This is a show that we have been invited to take part in at the Royal Festival Hall.
Both classes have been having regular visits from the Southwark Splash team. Esther’s class are involved with the drama element for the show, whilst Sara-Jane’s class will be helping to perform the songs.
The theme for the show this year is Shakespeare. Plenty of improvisation has been taking place during these weekly sessions. Both classes are looking forward to working with pupils from around the borough to help put on the performance.
Elsewhere in Year 5 and the students recently enjoyed a visit from a team of trainee doctors from King’s College Hospital. The purpose of the visit was to learn more about a career in health, and hopefully to inspire the pupils to consider this as a future option.
The sessions were very practical with plenty of learning and fun. The trainee doctors brought into our school a number of different medical appliances. We were able to experiment in taking blood samples, as well as looking in detail at how the digestive system works.
You can find out a little more about this visit in the short recording below.
