The Year 6 students at Michael Faraday School once again performed another amazing end of year play during the final week of the summer term. All pupils and staff have been working incredibly hard over the past couple of months in preparing for the production of Going for Gold.
As the name suggests, Going for Gold is a part historical, part comedy celebration of the Olympic Games. The play looks at the origins of the ancient Olympics, as well as looking forward to the 2016 Rio Games.
The plot involves time travel, waring factions and a Party God who helps to bring the peace. Plus there was plenty of singing and dancing as you would expect from a Michael Faraday production.
We are particularly proud of the freestyle rap sequence. This is a part of the show that the students put together themselves. All of the raps are the original work of the pupils.
Everyone has been working incredibly hard on Going for Gold since the end of the SATS exams in May. All pupils were given a role. The two performances meant that the main speaking parts could be rotated.
The audience reaction was fantastic! We would like to thank the many parents and carers that were able to come along and show their support for the pupils.
Plus we need to thank the dedicated Michael Faraday staff that made Going for Gold possible. Directors Leanne and Michael have helped guide the students through the whole process. Sophie has been our superb Musical Director.
Some stunning behind the scenes work has been carried out by our brilliant Teaching Assistants. Dilek, Fatima, Pauline, Ragini, Zahra and Bridget have all worked hard on the costumes, props and programmes.
We hope that you enjoyed our and of year show. We are proud to share some videos and photos from the production below.
