Year 2 Own and the Pussy Cat English Work

6

Year 2 have started to read The Owl and the Pussy Cat as our main class text for the first few weeks of the autumn term. This is a tale that is not as straight forward as it first seems. The two main characters have some interesting experiences along their journey. The pupils have used this story to think a little deeper about what might be taking place.

Each class member has come up with a list of questions that they would like to ask the characters about their role in the story. We have also used our creativity to come up with some possible answers. This work then led to some role play. This helped the Year 2 children to understand a little more about the characters.

Year 2 have also used The Owl and the Pussy Cat poem to help them with their rhyming words. We have tried to identify the words that rhyme within the story. You can listen to a couple of Year 2 children sharing their thoughts on the poem in the short recording below.
