Our Year 6 art theme of portraits has taken on a timely theme with the pupils creating a Day of the Dead Halloween style painting. The students have been researching the origins behind this Mexican tradition. We have also had some first hand tales from a couple of pupils in our class with Spanish backgrounds.
Each pupil was given a free choice as to how to decorate their Day of the Dead masks. The only stipulation was that a symmetrical design had to be created. This is another theme that we have been looking at in recent maths lessons.
Each mask was unique with some amazing designs being produced, as you can see in the photo gallery below.
