The Year 4 pupils at Michael Faraday School have been continuing to enjoy reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We have used this text to help the pupils improve their understanding of punctuation.
Speech marks, full stops, commas, exclamation marks and question marks have all been focussed on as part of this work. We have looked at a specific passage from the book, and then identified where the punctuation appears.
The next activity will involve the Year 4 pupils writing their own passage of creative writing inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Specific attention will be paid to add the correct punctuation in the passages.
Elsewhere in Year 4 and our maths work has led heavily on fractions. The pupils have been learning how to add and subtract different fractions. We have also looked at shapes and how to work out the fraction when a shape is divided.
