Year 2 have been looking at venn diagrams as part of our recent maths learning at Michael Faraday School. We have used the subject matter of 3D shapes to show how a venn diagram can help us to understand the shared properties of a particular group or set.
Each group observed a collection of 3D shapes. These included cubes, cylinders, spheres, cuboids, cones and a triangular pyramid. The children were then asked to answer some set questions relating to each shape. The number of faces, angles, curved edges and vertices were all looked at.
This data was then carefully logged in our maths books. This helped the children when they were deciding the location for each 3D shape as part of the final venn diagram.
