Our main history topic in Year 4 for the spring term will be to learn all about the Roman Empire. The pupils have started this work by first researching the reach of the Roman Empire in 117 AD.
We have looked at a map of Europe to see which countries the Romans had control of. This was then compared to a modern day map of Europe. The pupils have also been comparing the Roman names of the countries and capital cities. Each class member has reproduced a Roman map in their history books.
This is a topic that will cover many other different areas of the school curriculum. Our maths learning will include an element looking at Roman numerals. Artwork in Year 4 this term will look at how the Romans used mosaics to create art. We are also hopeful of organising a school trip to a historical Roman villa.
