Year 2 have started a new topic learning about plants. We began this learning with a nature walk around the school. The children were surprised to see both wild and natural plants growing around our school. We were able to identify dandelions, nettles, ivy, apple trees and horse chestnuts.
This work was then taken back into the classroom. The children were asked to draw diagrams of some of the plants that we had seen. These were all labelled. New vocabulary included roots, stem and leaf. We found that many of the children have a fascination with the Venus fly trap!
