Year 3 have been looking at architecture and how it can help us to think about the places where we live. Our starting point was the French architect Le Corbusier. Our research showed how his aim was to design houses in cities that people wanted to live in.
We have also seen how Le Corbusier liked to make use of unusual shapes in his designs. He worked with concrete to create some very unique buildings.
The Year 3 children were then set the task of designing their own Le Corbusier inspired houses. Shapes were used and incorporated into the structure. The pupils were asked to think about different rooms and how they could improve the lives of residents.
You can watch a couple of the Year 3 architects share their designs in the video above.
