The Year 1 children are continuing with their plants in the wild science topic. We started off this learning with a simple experiment. One plant was given water but no soil, whilst a second was given soil but no water. We soon found that all plants need both water and soil to grow.
This knowledge has been used to look after some beans that the Year 1 children have planted. Regular watering sessions take place.
Both classes went on a flowers exploration trip to the nearby Faraday Gardens. We have been learning how to identify different types of flowers.
This then became a tree hunt in our own school playground. We held a class discussion to think how we can identify different trees. One suggestion was to look at the leaves. Each class member was given a clipboard showing the types of leaves that we should be looking out for.
