Science learning in Year 4 has involved the pupils learning about human teeth. We have been looking at the different types of teeth that we have, and what role they play when breaking down food. This then led to a discussion about plaque and how it can be harmful to our teeth as it causes decay.
Year 4 had great fun with an experiment involving dental disclosure tablets. These show where the plaque is located in our teeth. The pupils used dentals mirrors to identify any plaque. This showed us where we need to be concentrating our efforts when cleaning our teeth. We then cleaned our teeth to remove any plaque.
Each pupil has also designed a poster to show our dental knowledge. Play dough has been used to sculpt the different types of teeth that we all have.
