The Nursery children have been sharing some of their stories using their journals. Parents have been supplying photos and pieces of writing from home for the journals. These are then used at school to help with language and development.
The Nursery staff were pleased to see one young pupil sharing his photos from a family visit to China. This helped the teaching staff and class members to find out a little more about the culture.
Other children have been sharing photos of events in the local community. Each child then spends some time with an adult to talk about these photos. It is a useful way to assess learning targets at school.
Elsewhere in the Nursery and we are continuing to read The Very Hungry Caterpillar. This is part of our recycling topic. The children have been taking care of the seeds that we have planted in our recycled bottles. Work will soon start on the Nursery bug hotel.
The children are making the most of the summer term weather. All class members are invited to bring their scooters in from home. Staff encourage the children to share these with their friends.
The regular sessions with the school Digital Leaders have been taking pace. Each week the Year 5 and Year 6 Digitl Team spend time with the younger children helping them with their ICT.
Finally we would like to mention some future dates coming up for parents and carers of Nursery children. Maths workshops for parents will take place on 15 and 23 June at 3:30pm. This is a chance for the teaching staff to explain how maths learning can continue at home.
We will be helping parents and carers with phonic support for the children over three sessions: 29 June, 4 and 7 July.
We are all excited about Nursery’s Come Dine With Me. The children will be designing some healthy snacks for parents and carers. This will take place on 27 June at 2:30pm. The children will be serving up the food.
