The Reception children have started to read Rosie Revere Engineer. This is a book that has a powerful message. Rosie overcomes many problems, but she never gives up.
We have been reading about the snake repellant hat that Rosie made for her Uncle who works at the zoo. Her Uncle found this funny. Rosie was a little upset, but she kept on trying to design and build useful items.
The Reception children have been understanding the different stages in the process when we make things. These include identifying a problem, brainstorming, building and then testing.
Some of the children were keen to use this knowledge to fix a couple of the Reception wheelbarrows. We identified that some of the screws needed replacing. Other pupils brainstormed the idea of using to tape to patch them up.
