Year 3 have started to read Into the Forest by Anthony Browne. This is a mysterious book that contains some fantastic imagery. It tells the story of how a young boy experiences a magical journey after he wakes up during a storm.
Each pupil has composed their own acrostic poem inspired by Into the Forest. This is a technique where the first letter in each new line spells out another word. We have been using the word MIDNIGHT to guide us through our acrostic poems.
Year 3 have been asked to improve their use of verbs and adjectives in their work. We have also been working with the school thesaurus’ for the first time to expand our vocabulary.
You can listen to a selection of the Year 3 poems being shared in the recording below.
Elsewhere in Year 3 and our recent maths work has looked at partition. We have started our weekly descant recorder lessons with our expert teacher Danny. The children have been encouraged to take the recorders home to practice.
