Year 2 Christmas Maths Problems and Card Making

Year 2 have been busy solving some Christmas maths problems. We were presented with a mystery. One of the elves had hidden the shiny bells. This meant that the reindeers were unable to use the sleigh.

Our challenge was to answer a series of maths questions that would lead us to finding the shiny bells. Various maths operations were needed: addition, subtraction, place value and measurements. The clues could only be solved by working out how to apply our maths knowledge.

Elsewhere in Year 2 and we have been using our art time to design some unique Christmas cards. The children traced around the shape of their own hand. We then used this as the template for a Christmas card. These were decorated with glitter. A special message was written inside for family members.
