Year 1 have been observing the incredible growth of our class runner beans. We planted these at the start of the term and have been learning how to look after them. The children take it in turns to water them each day.
This is all part of our class topic looking at the changing seasons. We have been talking about what happens in spring, and how we can hopefully start to look forward to some summer weather. The children will also be learning about the wild flowers that we can see growing around us.
Elsewhere in Year 1 and we will soon start our spectacular drama project with our friends from the nearby Blue Elephant Theatre. This is a wonderful community theatre that is keen to help the Year 1 children improve their confidence and acting skills.
We will be rehearsing regularly for a show called How Seeds Grow. This fits in perfectly with our science plant topic! A performance at the Blue Elephant Theatre will take place in July. All parents and carers will be invited along.
Finally it is worth mentioning our creative Year 1 PE session. Once again we have kept the plant growth theme continuing. The children have been setting up scenes from Jack and the Beanstalk. This involves plenty of stretching and group activity to describe the story using our bodies.
