Both Year 1 classes have been enjoying the brilliant summer weather with some lively PE lessons taking place outdoors. We are starting to prepare for the school Sports Day and the skills that we will need to take part.
A recent PE session saw three different activities set up. Skipping ropes were made available so that the children could improve on the techniques taught by Dan the Skipping Man.
We also had a hula hoop work station. Some of the Year 1 pupils showed great skill in being able to rotate the hoop around their hips.
A final activity involved pairs of pupils practising their cricket skills. We took it in turns for one person to bowl the ball, with our friend being the batter. Teamwork is key here.
We look forward to seeing some of these skills being put in action when the Key Stage 1 Sports Day takes place on 5 July. Parents and carers are welcome to attend and cheer along our young athletes.
