Recent maths work in Year 2 has helped the children with their understanding of measurements. We have started to use rulers to help us measure various items.
A challenge was set for the children to design and build some animal houses using our measuring skills. Sheep pens, cow fields and pigsties needed to be built.
The children were given a statement such as:
Two sides of the sheep pen are 11cm, and two other sides are 15 cm.
The Year 2 children measured out each distance on a coloured piece of paper. These were then cut at the right point to help build the animals houses in our maths books.
