Year 3 have had fun learning about shape and rhythm gymnastics during our PE lessons. The aim is to see how we can stretch our bodies to help improve our flexibility and balance.
We started a recent session with a warm up routine. The pupils walked around the gym. Class teacher Elspeth called out a letter from the alphabet. The class members had to form the shape of the letter with their bodies.
Beanbags were then introduced. The Year 3 children worked in pairs to see how they could move a beanbag from one part of their body to another. Elspeth asked the children to form neat shapes with pointed toes and long arms.
A soft ball was then introduced. The challenge was to create tuck, straddle and pike stretch shapes whilst balancing the ball. Each group demonstrated their routine at the end of the season.
