Year 4 have looked in great detail at the Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll as part of World Poetry Day. The pupils were entertained by some of the nonsense words in the poem. We have carried out a poetry translation exercise by suggesting alternative words that we recognise.
The next task will be to write a newspaper report based on this fictitious story. The aim is for the pupils to use some of the ideas in the poem and then tell the story as though it was a factual incident.
Plus plenty of acting has taken place! Year 4 have worked together to recite the Jabberwocky with great passion. You can watch one of the class members perform the classic story in the video above.
