Nursery Phonics, Plants Growth and Caterpillars!

We are very pleased with the phonics progress of the Nursery children at the start of the new term. Most of the children are now at Phonics Phase 2. This involves sounds being blended together to make words such as PIN.

The children worked well before the Easter break on the S A T P I N phonic sounds. We will be looking at the sounds made by M D G O C K over the next few weeks.

We are using different books to help with this learning. Superworm by Julia Donaldson is a current class favourite. This includes many different phonic sounds and rhyming words.

This also fits in with our growth topic. Other books that the Nursery children will read include Aaaarrgghh Spider! by Julia Monks and the The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

The children are very excited about taking delivery of our own class caterpillars. These will be carefully looked after. The children will observe how they will grow and change into beautiful butterflies.
