The Reception children are settling back into the school routine after the Easter break. One of our early learning activities for the new term involves looking at repeating patterns.
The children are also starting a new topic looking at plants and growth. We will use the change in season to explore how this affects plants and helps them to grow.
Reception will soon start to plant their own seeds. These will be looked after by the children with regular watering. We will observe the growth and then transfer them to our outdoor growing space. Diaries will be kept to record the changes.
Our growing topic will also think about human and animal growth. The children will look at the different stages a human goes through from a baby as they grow older. We will also look at mini-beasts outside.
Finally we would like to mention the Vet’s Corner that has been set up in our classroom. The children showed an interest in looking after animals. A special play clinic has been set up to help with this learning.
