The Year 2 children will be learning about plants and trees during the first few weeks of the new summer term. We started our work with an introduction session to find out any facts that the children might already know.
This work developed so that the children could list some questions that they would like to research about plants and trees. Ideas included what are bulbs, how tall can trees grow, and why are plants important for insects?
We also used a recent art session to design some trees. Each class member was given a specific tree type such as an oak tree, a cherry tree or a holly bush. Appropriate designs were used to decorate our trees.
Our plant and growth topic will involve plenty of practical activities over the next few weeks. Year 2 will plant their own seeds outdoors and look after them as we head towards the summer months.
