Both Year 2 classes had a brilliant time at the Florence Nightingale Museum. We made the short trip by bus to St Thomas’ hospital. The children were able to admire the Mary Seacole statue outside the hospital.
Once we reached the Museum we were greeted by a very realistic Florence Nightingale actress. She was able to tell us in detail about the life and work of the famous nurse.
This was an interaction session. The Year 2 pupils were able to dress up in a selection of historic nurse and soldier uniforms. Original artefacts from the era were available to be passed around.
Back in class the children have written some thank you letters to our friend Florence. We recapped on some of the key events of our trip and explained what our favourite part of the day was.
