The Year 5 children had the most amazing Ancient Greek Day! This was a celebration of all the hard work the pupils have achieved this term learning about the ancient civilisation.
Class teachers Sophie and Elspeth asked parents and carers if any Ancient Greek costumes could be produced at home for the day. The response we received was fantastic! Some incredible thought and effort went into the designs.
The day involved a series of work activities and workshops. The pupils all completed a quiz. This tested our knowledge across all areas of Ancient Greek culture, philosophy and Gods.
Some original Ancient Greek puzzles were made available. We compared them with the modern day leisure activities that we enjoy.
A workshop session was set up for the afternoon session. The pupils were able to examine original Ancient Greek weapons and learn about battle tactics.
Finally our Greek Day came to a close with the Michael Faraday Ancient Greek Olympics! The pupils took part in some of the original sporting activities that inspired the modern Olympics.
