Year 2 are having great fun reading the book Where the Wild Things Are. We have looked at the main character of Max, as well as the many wild things that he meets. The children were fascinated by their different appearances.
This led to the pupils designing their own Wild Thing character. We started by thinking of a suitable fantasy setting. Some of our Wild Thing characters lived in the jungle, with others living in the sea. We even had a River Thames Wild Thing!
The next task was to imagine what our Wild Thing might look like. Pictures of different animals were cut apart. These were used to create a unique Wild Thing character for each class member.
Year 2 will spend the final few weeks of the term creating their own Wild Thing story. Our new characters will be at the centre of our written work. The children will describe an adventure that takes place involving our creations.
