Year 3 Assembly Looks at Hurricanes

Kate’s Year 3 class recently staged an impressive Key Stage 2 assembly themed around hurricanes. We have researched this topic during our science lessons.

Our assembly started by defining what is meant by a hurricane. We then looked at the structure of a hurricane and the different locations where they can occur. We also addressed the impact of hurricanes.

Kate’s class is currently reading the book The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr Morris Lessmore. Our assembly saw some of the pupils reading out some relevant passages related to hurricanes.

We also shared some of the stories written by the pupils. They were asked to describe the experience of witnessing a hurricane using similes.

This was a very brave assembly from the Year 3 pupils in front of the older children. All class members had a speaking part. The pupils are proud of their work and they wanted to share it.
