Reception Theatre Trip, Christmas Cards and 3D Shapes

The Reception children recently had an enjoyable trip to the nearby Blue Elephant Theatre to see a production of Christmas Quest. This is a play that involves a reindeer and an elve. We were happy to learn some new reindeer dancing moves!

Back in our Reception classes and the children are rehearsing for the Michael Faraday Winter Concert. This is the first time that the pupils have performed as part of this show. Reception will sing two songs: Dancing Christmas Trees and Little Snowflake.

Elsewhere and the the children have made their own Christmas cards and calendars for their family members. Our maths work has looked at 3D shapes. We have also introduced the children to the idea of subtraction.

English learning has looked at the book The Jolly Postman. This has some Christmas themes that we have been able to talk about.

Finally it is worth mentioning our Learning Journals. Each class member has their own book which is updated throughout the year. This showcases our work and helps the children to remember what they have achieved. Regular one-on-one sessions take place with adults to help the children talk about their work.
