The Year 2 children returned after the Christmas break to find a special letter addressed to them from the Natural History Museum. This included a picture of a very large footprint from an unknown animal.
We later found out that the footprint was from a dodo. This is an animal that most of the children knew little about. We have spent the first week back researching dodos and why they no longer live.
Each class member has written some questions they would like to find the answers to.
Do dodos live in large families?
Did dodos live around at the same time as dinosaurs?
What size were dodos?
The answers to our research questions will be passed on to the team at the Natural History Museum.
We have also started to understand what is meant by the word extinct.
